Course Description
Have you ever wondered why people behave the way they do, or why certain social rules exist? How does our culture, family, technology, and social media shape who we are? In this course, you'll explore the fascinating world of human society and discover how individuals and groups influence and are influenced by the world around them. We’ll examine topics such as socialization, culture, inequality, gender, race and ethnicity, deviance, and family, with special attention to issues facing Canadian society today. Along the way, you’ll develop your “sociological imagination” — a powerful tool that helps you see everyday life in a whole new way, while building critical thinking skills you can apply far beyond the classroom.
